Overview
Subwoofer MBL202A
The active filters of the 202 A are fed directly by the preamplifier. The operation is phase linear and execute the exact division of the input Signal. The subwoofer is supplied with low frequencies by way of a 24-dB Linkwitz-Riley frequency network that has been carefully calculated. Two high pass filters each ensure optimal adjustment to the main speakers. Therefore, they will perform so lightly and vividly as you have never heard them before. This is due to the fact that they no longer need to produce ultra low frequencies. The build in subsonic filters help avoid disturbing frequencies below the audible spectrum.MBL use only high-quality parts. They are measured and tested meticulously. Then they are hand assembled in a time-consuming process. The circuit boards of the active amplifiers are equipped with Styroflex condensers and metal resistors amongst select semiconductors and air core coils which have been film made by hand. It is a tradition at MBL, that all connecting terminals are first nickel-plated and then plated with high carat gold to enhance contact quality.
The woofer driver are quite unusual. This driver operates in a rather small enclosure, which has been designed as bass cube by our specialist team. The mbl 202 A is equip with an in-house design 30-cm (12 inch) woofer chassis. It is mounted on the front of the cube. Its convex, stiff, and foam-coated membrane is driven by an Ultra thermo-resistant 100-mm (4 inch) voice coil. A sophisticated double cent ration warrants Symmetric restoring force and lowest distortion.
