The belt-drive CD Player 001 is the "little brother" of our world-renowned transport/converter combinations 969/970 Reference and 979/980 Top lines. It closes the gap between the CD Players of our Classic Line and the transport/converter combinations of our Reference and Top lines.
The 001 provides an extraordinary audiophile experience that hitherto could only be expected from our large transport/converter combos. Its warm musicality and, at the same time, its wealth of detail inspire and impress listeners at once. The perfect interplay between belt drive, upsampling function to 96/24 bit with the appropriate sampling rate and variable analog filters looks like an unbeatable combination among CD Players on the world market today.

The Top Line 001 Belt-Drive CD Player, highly complimented by the international press, is designed as top loader and uses established technologies from the Reference Line CD Players.
The Burmester-invented interplay between our belt-drive system, upsampling function to 96/24 bit with the appropriate sampling rate and variable analog filters has set the standard on the world market for many years. Just like analogue record players, the belt-drive CD player offers enhanced de-coupling of the record medium from the drive unit. The rotation of the CD is held completely even without sound distorting vibrations or staggering. Therefore, the CD is readout with considerable higher precision and is not afflicted with electronic jitter.
Additional external digital sources can be upgraded via the 001’s four digital inputs by using the integrated DA-converter. Before they are converted, all digital signals, including the signals of the internal drive, are sampled up to 96/192 kHz/24bit. In addition to that, the 069 is fully balanced and completely DC-coupled without distorting capacitors in the signal path. The features of this technological power-pack are completed by a fully balanced pre-amp output including volume control, which provides the possibility of a direct connection to a power amp. On demand, the pre amp output can be programmed to fix-out.
The impressive sound features of the 001 are also a result of his superb channel synchronism – the deviation is less than 0,1 percent. The absolutely reliable sampling rate and the extremely humble distortion factor bring this down to a perfectly round figure. On the basis of these amenities, “Stereophile” (USA) has repeatedly rewarded the 001 as “recommended component”.
